Note on grouping component

0 votes

Hi,

I use the version 3033 and your demo server version 3032.

It would be nice to have note on grouping component like notes on composite states (chap 7.7 of documentation)

Best regards

@startuml

cloud "Network" as Netw {
node "PC1"
note left: i7
}

note right of Netw: RJ45

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion, it's a good idea.

This has been implemented in last beta https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/13064071/plantuml.jar

This will be released in next official release.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the implementation.
I do some tests and I have 2 remarks:
1) Is it desired that the link from note to element is "dashed line?
2) It seems that the position attribute (left, right, top, bottom) is not always used:

@startuml
cloud "Network" as Netw {
    cloud "PC1"
    note left: i7
    note right of PC1: Dummy
}
note right of Netw: RJ45
newpage
cloud "Network" as Netw {
    cloud "PC1"
    note left: i7
    note "Dummy" as NoteDummy
    NoteDummy -- PC1
}
note left of Netw: RJ45
newpage
cloud "Network" as Netw {
    cloud "PC1"
    note left: i7
    note "Dummy" as NoteDummy
    NoteDummy -- PC1
}
note top of Netw: RJ45
newpage
cloud "Network" as Netw {
    cloud "PC1"
    note left: i7
    note "Dummy" as NoteDummy
    NoteDummy -- PC1
}
note bottom of Netw: RJ45

@enduml
About point 1), yes, it's hardcoded in code as dashed line.
Changing that is not very difficult, so if there is a need for change, we are open to any syntax suggestion/ideas.

About point 2), it's difficult to set relative position of nodes and clusters with GraphViz/Dot.
So right now, we won't be able to fix thoses issues. Sorry about that!
Hello,

Thanks for the answers.
1) It would be more "orthogonal" if it is like note on single component and like the documentation:
Using notes
You can use the note left of , note right of , note top of , note bottom of keywords to
define notes related to a single object.
A note can be also define alone with the note keywords, then linked to other objects using the ..
symbol.

2) Not as I hope , but I understand the problem

Thanks for all your work on this great software!!!
